Hello,

Updating the firmware will not erase the RAID volumes. To update the firmware, backup data, arrange downtime and then update its firmware.

hello,

thank you for information because server is in use by huge amoun of client and we don't want to lose everything.

Also do you have information that update will resolve issue with resetting logical drive or not because we want to use incremental backups and we can't.

Re: resetting logical Direct-Access HP LOGICAL VOLUME RAID-0 SSDSmartPathCap-

Greetings!

1. What is the server model and what is the version of Linux installed on the server?
https://techlibrary.hpe.com/US/EN/enterprise/servers/supportmatrix/redhat_linux.aspx

2. What version of hpsa (Storage controller driver) is installed in the OS? Have you tried updating the controller driver?

In the RHEL KB that you mentioned, following is mentioned under the resolution section.

For RHEL6, this issue was covered in Bug 1678795 - P420i hpsa resetting logical Direct-Access never completes.

Unfortunately, the bug was closed due to RHEL6 lifecycle restrictions. To get the fix, please update to the required RHEL7 levels.
For RHEL7, the needed patches to fix this issue were added to kernel-3.10.0-1062.el7 via Bug 1710594 - [HPE 7.6 BUG] Bug fixes for hpsa driver and released via RHSA-2019:2029 - Security Advisory

Re: resetting logical Direct-Access HP LOGICAL VOLUME RAID-0 SSDSmartPathCap-

Hello,

thank you for replay and here are answers:

1. hp dl360 Gen9 and CloudLinux v8.7.0

2. hpsa firmware version is 7.0.0

OS on server is not redhat 6 or redhat 7 so kernel version is 4.18.0-425.19.2.lve.el8.x86_64

after we contact Colulinux support we update kernel but we still have issue and issue is on few server with same controller.

Re: resetting logical Direct-Access HP LOGICAL VOLUME RAID-0 SSDSmartPathCap-

Greetings!

Please check the hpsa driver version. If running on older version, please check with the OS support team if this can be updated.

Since multiple servers are affected you can log a support case and share logs for further investigation.

If you have servers working with the same configuration and OS, please do a comparative analysis and see if you find any difference.

For testing purpose, you may also check with supported flavor of Linux.
