Unable to upgrade sata ssd disk firmware
Hi!
I am trying to upgrade the disk MK001920GWHRU firmware from HPGB to HPGE using the package firmware-hdd-3db7640485-HPGE-2.1.x86_64.rpm. The disks are in a HP DL380 Gen8 with smart array P420i controller with firmware 8.32 and 2G cache.
I have tried both on Fedora30 and to insert into the file to the latest SSA for Gen8.
The upgrade appearantly goes fine, but after reboot the firmware version is still HPGB. Below is the end of the log.
This must be a rare issue, because searching Google for "Internal Exit Status: 21" give just one unrelated match.
Any ideas?

Re: Unable to upgrade sata ssd disk firmware
Hi!
Thank you for the suggestion.
I tried that booting from the latest SPP for gen8. I inserted the relevant rpm in the package directory and everything seemed to work fine during the upgrade process. One extra package was detected, and it was updated.
But the firmware shown in ilo is still the same.
Best,
Rune

Re: Unable to upgrade sata ssd disk firmware
Hi!
I already did that. I downloaded the RPM, installed it and ran hpsetup. I also tried to put the RPM on the latest SSA disk, but that did not help either. Could there be an error with the provided firmware?
Best,
Rune
