Discover how small businesses and remote offices are finding new power
Forget the required IT expertise? Now you can accelerate digital transformation with office-in-a-box tech tailored for small businesses and remote offices. Get the scoop from the session at Discover 2022!
Discover 2022 was buzzing! I walked away buzzing too—with excitement not only about the solutions available for small and remote businesses today, but the way these businesses are stepping up and tackling challenges.
Maciek Szczesniak, Vice President & General Manager SMB and Mid-Market, and I had the pleasure of leading a standing room-only session at Discover about accelerating digital transformation for small and remote offices. I mention standing room only because—to me—it pointed to the energy and focus of this sector. It was invigorating and I walked away from the event with a renewed commitment to seeing our customers grow and succeed.
If you missed it—or would just like a refresher—here are some of the highlights and takeaways from this fun session:
Common ground that growing businesses encounter
1. Increased growth via digital transformation
The pandemic has forced SMBs to highly prioritize digital transformation—the ability to scale and do business digitally is what determined who would survive or not. Digital transformation is seen as a way to improve infrastructure to support new innovations, boost productivity, short sales cycles, and ultimately lower cost to drive profitability. Business are looking to get more bang from the bucks invested in technology.
2. Hybrid and remote workplaces are the new norm
Today more than ever, employees need to able to work from anywhere—sometimes without much notice. Small business owners fear that productivity is suffering as a result from working from home. Now SMBs are needing to find not just any but the right hardware, software, services, and options to permanently enable employees to WFH.
3. Security is a pain point
According to Forrester’s 2020 State of Security Operations, 79% of businesses have experienced a security breach of some kind in the past 12 months, and data breaches remain a constant concern for all businesses. In addition, SMBs face significant technology challenges from complex and siloed tools that create inefficiencies and produce subpar security outcomes.
4. Support needed across the solutions cycle
SMBs need technical support as they grow, at every major junction. When selecting a vendor, SMBs choose those with a complete and sustained portfolio. Commitment to the platforms, breadth of offer, ongoing warranties, and support services are all key. This combination creates leading experience SMB seek. At the end of the day, you want to focus on your business, not managing your IT.
The ripple effect
All of these challenges are amplified due to the ripple effect…
When you throw a rock into a lake and see the ripple effect, so is the case with the pandemic. And we are still experiencing the aftermath to this day.
It wasn’t just about solving the problem of the moment of how to keep your business running during the lockdowns, but it has evolved to much more from rising inflation, to retaining staff, to travel nightmares—things that most of us didn’t even imagine would be the aftermath—and it is still continuing.
Strategic problem
Despite tremendous amounts of investment in digital transformation, many companies are still falling behind, failing to achieve the business breakthroughs that deliver differentiated outcomes.
The problem we’re seeing across industries is a digital transformation divide that is widening—a gap in performance between those at the top of the market and those at the bottom.
The leaders have sprinted ahead and 67% of CEOs agree that acting with agility is the new currency of business.
In the KPMG 2019 Global CEO Outlook Survey of 400 CEOs a majority of the respondents told KPMG that being too slow can lead to obsolescence, a marked increase from those who thought so last year. CEOs face a choice: agility or irrelevance. What has changed? The answer is clear: The speed of change is only getting faster.
Mega trends that the leaders know
1. Data is the life force
Data is the lifeforce that’s essential for activating next-gen operating and business models. For some, this is about delivering rich experiences across billions of moments. For others, it’s about accelerating decision velocity to cut through organizational lethargy. And lastly, many are using data to see around the corner and to drive actionable insight.
2. Taking the edge plunge
Edge is anywhere the source of the data is. It is basically putting servers, storage, and networking wherever the data is and it can be as simple as a smart traffic light on a road or as complex as the international space station.
Data is being created everywhere, from SMBs to large enterprises. HPE is bridging the compute needs to connect data within small office & remote offices across, different industries, unlocking edge capabilities giving business a competitive edge. Innovating at the edge helps manage uncertainty, respond to requirements and opportunities, improved cost reductions and productivity.
