Fast-track digital innovation with HPE and GigaSpaces
Legacy systems of record can block innovation and take years to modernize. Learn how you can liberate trapped data and put it to work with GigaSpaces Smart DIH on HPE Superdome Flex servers.
Legacy systems of record (SoRs) are often a roadblock to digital innovation. They were not designed for modern digital services or real-time analytics. And asking them to power modern applications could impact the performance and availability of core systems your business depends on. At some organizations, a mix of incompatible SoRs complicates things further.
Even if youโve taken the decision to modernize your core systems on mainframe or Unix system(s) of record, it is often a multi-phase, multi-year journey. These limited, costly-to-run old systems cannot simply be swapped out because the applications they run are often complex and business-critical.
But to stay competitive, you need digital innovation nowโnot in a year or two.
One solution is GigaSpaces Smart DIH (Digital Integration Hub). This solution decouples digital applications from SoRs, so you can liberate enterprise data trapped in siloed SoRs and put it to work. Combined with HPE Superdome Flex servers, Smart DIH delivers ultra-low latency performance and lower TCO and scalable data growth, without slowing down the workloads your systems of record were designed for. Most solutions lag when loading data from legacy platforms, but Smart DIH on Superdome Flex extracts data in real-time with no performance impact. This is thanks to the two solutionsโ complementary architectures, as well as the huge scalability and I/O capabilities of Superdome Flex.
Letโs take a closer look at Smart DIH on HPE Superdome Flex, its use cases, and why this particular solution performs so well.
Why a digital integration hub?
As mentioned before, the DIH application architecture unlocks data trapped on legacy SoRs and makes it available to your innovation projects. GigaSpaces Smart DIH running on HPE Superdome Flex does this with incredible speed and reliability, making it ideal for a range of use cases that organizations in financial services, insurance, retail, energy, manufacturing and other industries must address during their modernization journeys. Prominent use cases include:
- Modernizing legacy infrastructure. You can enable legacy SoRs to support innovation, instead of inhibiting it, while you modernize infrastructure.
- Accelerating applications. With faster and broader access to data you can meet demanding SLAs for applications such as real-time transaction processing at scale, BI, and batch processing
- Reducing TCO. Through offloading from legacy SoRs, reduced footprint and higher management efficiencies
- Building a 360-degree customer view. You can accelerate analytics to gain faster customer insights and optimize customer experiences
- Moving to a unified, cloud-native data platform. You can integrate data from multiple SoRs, across on-prem, cloud and hybrid, and deploy applications anywhere.
The complementary architectures of Smart DIH running on HPE Superdome Flex make all this possible. Together, they deliver extreme performance with ultra-low latency. And with the uniquely modular and highly scalable architecture of Superdome Flex, you can start small and grow as needed.
A proven, optimized solution
To really maximize the value of Smart DIH and Superdome Flex to your modernization projects, GigaSpaces and HPE also collaborated to develop an integrated, co-engineered joint solution. Teams from GigaSpaces and HPE ran hundreds of sessions to engineer, balance, and micro-tune the solution.
In benchmark tests carried out with the Yardstick open source framework, Smart DIH on HPE Superdome Flex delivered extreme performance and linear scale for over 210 million read operations per second, or 74 million write operations per second.
Across all the tests, latency was shown to be less than 1 millisecond for more than 99% of data queries. You can read the full results in our technical white paper.
The HPE Superdome Flex family of servers also helps minimize downtime, with innovative reliability, availability and serviceability (RAS) features that do not exist in other x86 server platforms. And with advanced security features, including Silicon Root of Trust protection in HPE Superdome Flex 280, you can protect your most sensitive data and minimize the threat of cyber-attacks.
