Customer experience has become the new battleground and digital transformation is separating winners from losers. Your ability to engage, understand, and keep the modern buyer is greatly dependent upon your digital customer experience. It’s why worldwide spending to enable digital transformation will exceed $1 trillion in 2020.*  Yes, that’s with a “T”.

You’re not alone if digital transformation initiatives are falling behind, but the gap is widening as remote workforces, virtual engagements, and online-everything further shape digital interaction.  If you’re holding on to legacy IT systems—you won’t close the gap. Period.

Let’s first clear up a common misconception (and potential disappointment). Cloud is a means, not the answer.  Better to consider cloud experience independent of location, and why it’s a hybrid world.

Digital transformation means modernizing applications. It also means new methodologies to extract value from vast amounts of data, such as in-memory analytics, IoT data processing, AI, and converging with existing business-critical and high performance computing workloads. Applications with different requirements (size, performance, connectivity, availability) often needed to run on discrete, monolithic servers, leading to silos and admin complexity, as well as cost premiums to ensure server capacity.

To change that we developed the widely adopted HPE Superdome Flex—a breakthrough server for diverse, data-intensive, and converging workloads, with a modular building-block architecture for cost-efficient growth. And why we are expanding the Superdome Flex family

Introducing HPE Superdome Flex 280: a new building block for digital transformation

Designed for your small or medium-size environment, Superdome Flex 280 is your one system to power digital transformation. It can handle SAP HANA, Oracle Database, SQL Server, and Epic user demand, while delivering real-time analytics. Comb through massive IoT and AI datasets at the edge or in the core. And tackle complex problems holistically as a standalone HPC workhorse or within petascale clusters. The system features 3rd Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors, runs Linux, VMware, and Windows, and fits in a standard rack with standard I/O and connectivity. But that’s where standardization ends and HPE innovation begins.

“To transform digitally requires IT to transform. Simply stated, you cannot compete in today’s digital economy with old IT infrastructure. HPE’s innovative Superdome Flex powered by 3rd Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors with integrated AI acceleration delivers modernized computing optimized for data intensive applications.”  - Allyson Klein, GM of Intel’s Data Platform Marketing Group

Utilizing HPE technology with 100+ patents, Superdome Flex 280 delivers the unique, modular Superdome Flex architecture at a lower entry point and in smaller scale-up increments. Start with as little as two processors and grow to eight in 2-socket increments as a single system. Capitalize on 64GB to 24TB of shared memory using DRAM only or in combination with Intel Optane persistent memory 200 series for HPE.

Need GPUs? You can have up to 16. NVMe storage or fast I/O? Leverage up to 32 PCIe cards. HPE silicon root of trust provides hardware protection against firmware attacks. And when applications are business critical, Superdome Flex RAS stands above to guard against downtime.

Superdome Flex 280 will be available as-a-service through HPE GreenLake, conventionally, and with HPE Financial Services to preserve cash and align payments with deployment. Shipments begin in the fourth quarter of this year.
