Introducing the next generation of world record-setting compute for a hybrid world
Meet HPE ProLiant Gen11 servers with 4th Gen AMD EPYC™ processors.
HPE sets 43 world records with 28 new world records for HPE ProLiant Gen11[1]! With up to 99% better performance than the previous generation[2], and up to 43% more energy efficiency compared to the previous generation[3], this new powerhouse server family promises to deliver the differentiated and workload-optimized technology to address latency, flexibility, and performance needed to turn data into insights – and innovation at the speed of business.
Today’s hybrid world demands compute engineered to deliver optimal performance, strong security features, and efficiency where and when it’s needed—from edge to cloud.
New and/or modernized applications and workloads—like virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), hybrid cloud, AI/analytics, and high-performance computing (HPC)—have varying requirements based on the latency, scale, performance, and economics of the job to be done. Some workloads lend themselves to consolidation, virtualization, and containerization, while others might need to run on discrete bare-metal systems.
Getting the workload balance right leads to greater efficiency that drives competitive advantage. Conversely, mismatching workload requirements with inadequate infrastructure lead to silos of inefficiency, administrative complexity, and cost premiums to ensure server capacity.
Challenges with legacy systems also extend to addressing the ongoing trend of massive data growth at the core, and increasingly, at edge locations. To survive and thrive, many organizations rely heavily on that data and the ability to turn it into insights using a variety of techniques such as HPC, artificial intelligence, and analytics. These new workloads are highly data-and compute-intensive, and they require specialty processors, accelerators, storage, interconnects, and software that legacy systems may not support. As a result, enterprises need differentiated, workload-optimized technology to deliver the latency, flexibility, and performance needed to turn data into insights and innovation at the speed of business.
The combined headwinds from human, technology, and data-related factors are culminating in a new set of infrastructure requirements to enable digital transformation.
These new requirements include systems and solutions that are:
- Workload-optimized
- Highly secure
- Highly automated
- Scalable to support hybrid IT cloud-native and traditional apps
- Deployable anywhere
- Deliverable with a cloud-like and as-a-service experience to enable collaboration
All of these capabilities are embodied in the next-generation HPE ProLiant compute built on the latest generation of AMD EPYC™ processors.
HPE ProLiant shatters 43 world records![4]
With undisputed performance leadership, HPE ProLiant Gen11 added 28 new world records while delivering up to 99% higher performance and up to 43% more energy efficiency compared to the previous generation.
Other new world record highlights include:
- The world record for SAP's SD 2-Tier 2P Benchmark: Up to 60% faster than the previous record.
- The world record for 256 total cores virtual data center performance: 40% higher than the previous record on VMware VMmark benchmark.
- The world record for DSS on Microsoft® SQL Server 2022 Enterprise Edition: 56% better performance than the previous record.
- The world's best price/performance on Microsoft® SQL Server 2022 Enterprise Edition.
- World records for 1P Java Server performance.
- The world record for 2P 2-Node virtual data center performance: 70% higher than the previous VMware VMmark benchmark record.
- World record for video rendering (CPU based) on 1P and 2P: Up to 2X higher performance compared to the previous record holder.
Ensure your peace of mind with robust server security features
Security starts with corruption-free server manufacturing and auditing the integrity of every component through the HPE Trusted Supply Chain initiative, ensuring that every server begins its lifecycle uncompromised. HPE ProLiant Gen11 servers are manufactured in secure HPE facilities to the most stringent codes and conformance requirements.
In the all-new design of the HPE ProLiant Gen 11 server family, we also streamlined management and enhanced security to give IT professionals a great experience plus peace of mind against security threats.
HPE continues to lead and deliver infrastructure security innovations—from edge to cloud—against more advanced and persistent security threats. HPE ProLiant next-gen servers have new integrated security features that include IDevID certificates installed by default and the trusted platform module (TPM) for a more secure infrastructure. Next-gen HPE ProLiant servers also extend security protection through the authentication of platform components against potential entry points of threats that can compromise your entire server infrastructure. By using HPE iLO 6 verification, the new authentication of PCIe firmware with Security Protocol and Data Model (SPDM) ensures the component’s integrity installed in the server.
As always, security remains at the forefront of our server design, and the AMD EPYC 9004 CPUs provide a rock-solid foundation. The AMD “security-by-design” approach includes a set of state-of-the-art security features and a silicon-embedded security subsystem—AMD Infinity Guard—to help maximize the protection of enterprise data wherever it resides. Additionally, the EPYC 9004 processors expand on AMD Infinity Guard features by continuing to add layers for both physical and virtual security. AMD EPYC CPUs also offer leadership security features like Secure Encrypted Virtualization (SEV), SEV Secure Nested Paging (SEV-SNP), and SEV Encrypted State (SEV-ES) memory to enhance virtualization security.[5]
Your choice of workload-optimized compute solutions
We’re introducing a range of HPE ProLiant next-gen server models, powered by 4th Generation AMD EPYC processors, each carefully tuned to deliver optimal performance, storage, scale, and efficiency for a variety of key workloads.
For virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) workloads, you’ll find next-gen HPE ProLiant server models engineered with up to 96 cores per processor, large memory capacity, and L3 cache support that provide a great virtual machine, container, and application density that optimizes processor utilization. The 1U single-processor HPE ProLiant DL325 Gen11 Server is a cost-optimized option, or for more graphics-intensive virtual workloads, the 2U dual-processor HPE ProLiant DL385 Gen11 Server delivers GPU-accelerated VDI performance with AMD Instinct™ accelerators. In fact, our new ProLiant Gen11 servers have already set a world record for video rendering (CPU based) on one- two processor systems—up to 2X higher performance than the previous record holder.[6]
For data management, the 2U single-socket HPE ProLiant DL345 Gen11 Server is the perfect scalable server solution to power your data workloads that have large storage capacity requirements while keeping data protected with enhanced security features. Alternatively, the accelerator-optimized HPE ProLiant DL385 Gen11 Server steps up compute performance with upgraded high-speed data transfer rates and large memory bandwidth to power data-intensive workloads with numerous queries and multiple application requests. With these storage performance enhancements, HPE set new world records for digital data storage (DSS) on Microsoft® SQL Server 2022 Enterprise Edition, achieving—56% better performance than the previous record[7]—and the world's best price/performance on Microsoft® SQL Server 2022 Enterprise Edition[8].
The HPE ProLiant DL365 Gen11 Server is a rack-optimized 1U dual-processor solution that delivers exceptional compute performance with up to 192 cores per server (96 cores per CPU), upgraded high-speed data transfer rate, and large memory capacity for EDA, CAD, and general-purpose virtualization workloads (including VDI) that require increased compute density with built-in security features and flexibility.
