Migrating to SAP® S/4 HANA with the flexibility and choice offered by HPE
Designing for mission-critical use cases is a part of the HPE DNA, and HPE’s deep and long-standing partnership with SAP, coupled with HPE innovation, has resulted in over 50,000 HPE servers being deployed for SAP HANA. HPE’s mission-critical server platforms have contributed to this success, as have HPE ProLiant Gen11 server platforms.
Discover HPE’s comprehensive server portfolio
SAP® enterprise resource planning (ERP) applications have been the de facto industry standard for decades. Since its introduction in 2011, SAP HANA® has been the preferred in-memory database, revolutionizing data utilization to swiftly deliver real-time valuable insights for customer behavior, sales forecasting, market trends, and more.
Support for legacy SAP ECC software will end in 2027, which leaves customers with limited time to select compute platforms in preparation for an S/4HANA migration. But today, customers with critical workloads can take a strategic and significant step forward on their digital transformation journeys by transitioning to the next generation in SAP ERP — S/4HANA.
Proven value and market leadership for SAP solutions
HPE’s deep and long-standing partnership with SAP, coupled with HPE innovation, has resulted in over 50,000 HPE servers being deployed for SAP HANA. HPE’s mission-critical server platforms have contributed to this success, as have HPE ProLiant Gen11 server platforms.
Designing for mission-critical use cases is a part of the HPE DNA. To that end, the HPE Superdome Flex and HPE Compute Scale-Up Server families have been designed and engineered to deliver the most performant, scalable, and reliable platforms across three generations of Intel® Xeon® Scalable processors. And this make them the ideal choice for your SAP environment.
These market leading scale-up solutions are designed with the three key attributes vital to SAP deployments.
- Scalability. All HPE platforms can scale processor socket counts and RAM, and optimize TCO, while mitigating Day 1 overprovisioning issues.
- Performance. HPE Superdome Flex, and HPE Superdome Flex 280 each hold the #1 SAP BW[1] edition for SAP HANA benchmarks[2], proving that HPE successfully harnesses the full potential of Intel’s processing power in SAP environments. In addition, HPE has published the only 32 socket benchmark on the 2nd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable Processor Family and the only 8 socket benchmark on the 3rd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable Processor Family (running the SAP BW edition for SAP HANA Standard Application Benchmark Version 3).
- Reliability. HPE Compute Scale-up Server offerings are the only Intel Xeon Scalable Processor-based server platforms classified by IDC as Fault Tolerant Availability Level 4 system[3].
HPE’s mission-critical server portfolio is built for workloads like SAP, and referenced in the benchmarks above. The portfolio includes the following scale-up servers:
HPE ProLiant Gen11 servers: Compute engineered for your hybrid world
While the above mission-critical options are excellent choices for the SAP database tier, several HPE ProLiant Gen11 servers are optimal, complementary choices for the SAP application tier, and for SAP business-critical medium- and lighter-sized databases.
Designed to unlock more value from your data to accelerate outcomes that deliver insights and innovation, the latest generation of industry-leading HPE ProLiant servers are built on three primary tenets:
- Optimized performance for your workloads. This includes SAP, which provides the ability to achieve the performance you demand to accelerate any workload in the data center.
- Intuitive cloud operation experience. Simplify the way you manage distributed compute resources with a cloud operating experience.
- Trusted by design. Protect your infrastructure, workloads, and data with HPE's trusted security architecture.
Our broad HPE ProLiant Compute portfolio offers an array of choices for the right SAP solution for your business. Achieve the optimum price and performance combination for your SAP S/4 HANA deployments.
Confidently migrate with HPE at your side
When moving forward with your SAP S/4 HANA implementation or expansion, HPE has a comprehensive compute portfolio to flexibly fulfill any size requirement, small to large.
We encourage you to further explore the resources listed below to better understand how SAP S/4 HANA and HPE Compute platforms work better together.
