What’s new with the small but mighty HPE ProLiant MicroServer Gen10 Plus?

The HPE MicroServer is a long-time favorite entry-level server. Now we’ve completely reimagined it to be smaller, sleeker, and more powerful than ever—with even more of the features you need to meet the expectations of the data-driven era.

Today’s customers want richer digital experiences. Today’s employees want the freedom to work where and when they want. And you want modern IT that helps you meet all the expectations of the data-driven era—without breaking the budget.

HPE small busines servers.jpgIt’s time to meet the HPE ProLiant MicroServer Gen10 Plus, which HPE recently announced on March 11, 2020. The MicroServer has always been a favourite of small and midsize businesses, as well as remote and branch office users. But now it’s been completely reimagined. It’s smaller, sleeker, and more powerful than ever—with even more of the features you need to compete.

The new HPE ProLiant MicroServer Gen10 Plus is loaded with HPE innovation. Let’s look at how it compares to the Gen10.

Compute

The Gen10 Plus supports the latest Intel Xeon and Pentium processors. Choose Pentium for a lower-cost option and Xeon for when you need more performance. Intel’s Xeon delivers 2.7 times better compute performance compared to the previous generation.[1] Virtualization software support now includes VMware ESXi with the Xeon processor, plus faster processors enable the creation of more VMs.

Memory

The Gen10 Plus now supports DDR4 unbuffered (UDIMM) @2666 MT/s with ECC and memory protection. Faster clock speeds and reduced latency help workloads run faster.

Remote management

The Gen10 Plus features HPE iLO5 and virtually all of the iLO goodness you’ve come to expect, including secure monitoring and management of the server from anywhere in the world. Remote management is enabled by installing the optional HPE ProLiant MicroServer Gen10 Plus iLO Enablement Kit.

Security

The Gen10 Plus offers more features to protect sensitive business information. As an HPE ProLiant Gen10 server, it’s one of the world’s most secure industry-standard servers[2], built around exclusive HPE silicon root of trust technology. It provides 360-degree security…protecting, detecting, and rapidly recovering from malicious firmware attacks that could cripple your business. A front bezel lock prevents unauthorized physical access to the server.

Software RAID with the embedded HPE Smart Array S100i provides RAID 0, 1, 5, and 10 to enhance reliability and data redundancy and help protect data from hardware failures. Plus, optional HPE Secure Encryption is a FIPS 140-2 Level 1 enterprise-class encryption solution that complies with regulations for sensitive data, such as HIPAA and Sarbanes-Oxley. It encrypts the drive at rest as well as data in transit.

Networking

The Gen10 Plus features 4 x 1GbE LOM.  This enables you to separate networks between virtual machines or combine two or more ports via NIC teaming with the Windows Server OS to provide network fault tolerance and load balancing along with better performance.

Sleek design

The new HPE ProLiant MicroServer Gen10 Plus is also half the size of the previous model—about the size of a typical hardcover book—and can be deployed horizontally or vertically. It requires less power, too—180W vs. 200W. And it runs quieter than a library[3], making it your ideal office mate.

Plus, plus, plus…

  • The half-height, half-length PCIe x16 expansion slot can accommodate a larger range of PCI Express cards and provides higher throughput for options such as network controllers and graphics cards.
  • The USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-A port provides faster performance for data transfer.
  • HPE InfoSight for Servers is a no-cost software download that transforms HPE iLO5 server health and operations data into insights that automatically help predict and prevent server problems before your business is impacted.  E-mail server health notifications or e-mail alerting is also available via the optional HPE ProLiant MicroServer Gen10 Plus iLO Enablement Kit.

As you can see, the new HPE ProLiant MicroServer Gen10 Plus is packed with enterprise-class capabilities, smartly tailored to the needs and scale of your business. Whether you need to run core business applications in your office, consume cloud-based services from Microsoft Azure, or do both, the new MicroServer is the perfect server for growing your business.
