File Virtualization

Hi,

What is file virtualization ?
I am hearing a lot about this nowadays.

Does NAS filer perform file virtualization ?

Hello Shiv,

file virtualization is often some kind of Distributed File System (DFS). You know it maybe from Microsoft Windows Server. The user doesn't access the fileserver directly, but they access a single namespace (often a DNS name).

AFAIK Brocades File Area Network is based on DFS.
