HP Easy Storage Proliant 1650. Path to upgrade to Windows Server 2022

We have a couple of old HP Easy Storage 1650 running Windows Server 2012 Storage edition. We don't have support or HPE active account. We wanted to utilize them as backup storage devices. What would be the path to upgrade them to Windows Server 2022? I tried to do an in-place upgrade with a Windows Server 2022 Standard edition but errors out, saying this edition is not compatible with the upgrade. I tried 2016 as well. Same thing. I think it is looking for an HP storage-specific Windows Edition. I prefer to do a fresh install but worried I would not be able to find all the drivers or the OEM software. Again, we do not have a support contract. What would you guys do in my situation?

Hi,

The latest version of windows storage server operating system supported by this model is windows storage server 2016.
This upgrade requires purchasing an upgrade kit.
You might need to check with an HPE reseller whether this upgrade kit (Q0F57A) is still available.

Storeeasy 1650 server is based on DL380 Gen9 server.
The latest version of windows operating system listed as supported by DL380 Gen9 server is Windows 2019.

The last version of firmware and drivers compatible with this server would be available as part of the SPP disk version Gen9.1.

What I ended up doing was doing a fresh install on Windows Server 2022 and downloading the drivers and software manually from the HPE site.

The server seems to be running fine with new install.
