5GB Travan Error 05-0E-23-01-051E

Runing Win 98 and CBII v6.0. Trying to read tape getting error 05-0E-23-01-051E. This is happening on all tapes including a new one. This also happened when using the "Retention" command.
This used to work just fine. The only thing that's changed is I did try to upgrade my machine to XP. I had deleted CBII and drive prior to upgrading. Ended up going back to Win 98. CBII sees the drive. It's accessing the drive has you can hear it reading the tape but then the error occurs.

I would go to hp.com and download the version of CBII for win 98, the version is v8.0 - also try deleting any catalog files and if your drive is an external try the following edits for the epat shuttle driver;

Try adding switches to the Epat driver
Right-click My Computer icon and select Properties.
Select the device manager.
Double-click the SCSI controllers.
Double-click the EPAT Shuttle driver.
Under the Settings tab there is an Adapter Settings path.
Try adding combinations of the following switches:
/de - Disable EPP check.
/db - Disable EPPBIOS.
/dp - Skip PS/2 DMA Arbitration disable.
/di - Disable interrupt mode.
/ni - Skip chipset initialization.
/sf - Suppress fast mode detection.
Example: /W95 /de /db /dp

Re: 5GB Travan Error 05-0E-23-01-051E

I must be missing something. I did upgrade to 8. It uninstalls the previous CBII version but it also appears to uninstall the the drive itself since the SCSI/EPAT is not longer shown in the hardware profile. Intalling 8 does not seem to install the the drivers to support the drive. In fact no hardware is intalled or recognized after installing 8. As I mentioined this once worked fine so I don't know what's different now.

CB II in Windows 95 or Windows 98 reports error 05-0e-xxx-xx with a 5gb.

-Check firmware, upgrade firmware to the latest revision. The 5gb-firmware upgrade can be found on the Customer Care Web site by following the links to the 5gb drive and then selecting the Software and Drivers tab.

Re: 5GB Travan Error 05-0E-23-01-051E

It looks like a hardware problem. I acquired another 5gb unit, installed it on the same machine and it worked fine. Just in case, I tried the old machine, using the the software that came with the newly acquired unit and I got the same error. Thank you all for your responses.
