Backup software for 1/8 Ultrium 960 Autoloader

We have recently inherited a StorageWorks 1/8 Ultrium 960 Tape Autoloader from one of our IT groups that does not have the software or licenses shipped with it.  Currently it's hooked into a HP DL380 G5 running Windows 2008 R2.  Does anyone know of a free software package that can be used to backup the local drives to tape?

Hi,

 

You will have to buy a simple backup software to use the Autoloader. Otherwise you can manually use the Drive only with the Native Windows backup tool by manually loading the tapes into the drive.

 

Go for a simple version of Data protector or Data protector Express

Native tape support was removed in Windows 2008 backup.

If you find a backup tool for a single tape, you can use the autoloader in sequentiel mode (see user guide for details). A "real" backup solution would be much better ... e.g. a "small" solution like data protector express ...
