C1537A Tape drive problems

I have a HP tape drive (SCSI) that identifies itself as a C1537A. It worked great for a time, and now it won't complete a backup. L&TT reports the drive as working. It passes all the diagnostics tests. I THINK the problem started when I upgraded the firmware from L111 to L411. I want to downgrade the firmware to verify if that was the cause of the problem. The message I see in L&TT is that a password is required to downgrade the firmware. What is the password?

I'm running Windows 2003 Small Business, and using the built-in backup software.

Thanks,

Sean

The password have to be requested to HP support, just call them and explain why you need the password, they will provide you a temporary password.

Re: C1537A Tape drive problems

Why would I need a password to modify my own hardware? Strange.

I've tried to contact support for this problem through the various online web forms and never recieved a reply. What's the magic number to call to get help?

Thanks,

Sean

Re: C1537A Tape drive problems

Sean, the password is a software function that prevents people from overwriting their firmware with a wrong version and hence destroying their tape drive. If you ask for the password they will verify that you are trying to replace a correct software version. 800-hpinvent option 1, option2 ask for DAT drive on Windows
