DAT 72 is offline

I have an external DAT 72 device attached to a Proliant DL585 running Suse. The DAT 72 was set to offline due to a power failure, here is the log message:
scsi: Device offlined - not ready after error recovery: host 0 channel 0 id 8 lun 0

How can I change back the device to online without rebooting the server???
