Dat24i goes offline when tape inserted
This is a sort of follow up on "C1537A Linux Offline".
Occasionally when a tape is inserted the unit goes offline and the Tape LED is NOT on. To eject/remove the tape the system has to undergo a power cycle off/on. Pressing the button for 5 seconds does not work. If power to the DAT unit is removed and reconected the tape is ejected.
Examining my logs the problem seemed to occur more frequently on a Friday the cycle time for a particular tape (HP C5708A) was inserted. I have changed the tape.
Could this be due to a fautly tape?
Thanks
Stephen Carr

Re: Dat24i goes offline when tape inserted
Of course. If you manage to narrow down to one tape then it's probably the cause. Inserting it drive may be unable to understand if there's a tape/media (for example, tape has broken media) and goes into unconscious state thinking that there's no tape. Please throw away and do not use this tape any more.
In addition please check drive's firmware to be the latest (see your previous post)
