Data Protector Express Basic (5.x) - Error: 16

Hi,

Lately, a full backup job started to show message "Error:16 File Not Found".

Already tried to google this but nothing about (except for a MS KB tha suggests to change some registry keys related to page memory problems). I did it but problem persists.

Anyone faced this error ?

Hi,

This error 16 occurs when data protector express attempts to backup a file or folder that no longer exists on the network. This can be caused by a user or program deleting the object during the time between the backup calculated the object's location and the time the backup occurs.  

Note:  
This error should only occur once per object per backup job and should not be seen in sequential logs.

If you continue to see Error 16 on the same object over the course of multiple logs, you can prevent data protector express from attempting to backup that object by unselecting that object in your backup job.

Thanks for return.

Actually, the problem occurs as follow:

- Backup job starts;

- After a few seconds, it ends with this error (16 - no file found);

- Folders and files are stored on server as usual. 

- When I check the tape content, no files / folders were copied.

What I have tried:

- First moment, this problem happened with 4.0 SP1 version. 

- Create a parallel job (the problem persists);

- Delete / Create a backup routine (the problem persists)

- Update DPE with version 5 (the problema persists)

If I left something, please let me know.

Hello,

I have the same problem. Job is run for a few seconds and then says "Completed: 0%", and in the logs "Error 16: File not found" and "Selected 0 objects, 0 bytes". Even if I select one single file. Changed the file permissions but it did not affect ninachto.

If it is random files you have probably got archive attribute set on those files
