Do HP LTO cleaning tapes put wear on the heads
Long story, but essentially our brand new LTO 7 drive, got into a rhythm of running a cleaning cycle from a HP cleaning tape, due to another piece of software wrongly controlling it.
I noticed the odometer showed 101, which I figured to mean it had at least run 50 cleaning cycles.
Assuming the cleaning tapes are just made of some material to attract dust of the heads, I wouldnt think it would of done any damage?
Probably just some super clean heads now?

Re: Do HP LTO cleaning tapes put wear on the heads
From my LTO media experts: The tape within a Universal Cleaning Cartridge (UCC) is not particularly abrasive, and hence running 50 cleaning cycles should not have had a detrimental effect on the condition of the drive. Actually, the primary role of the LTO UCC is to help remove any loose debris from the drive head especially if such debris is located close to the write/read elements.
