DP 5.1 and LTO2 drive - backup tape turned blank

Hello,
One of my backup tapes showed up blank when I tried a restore. There were no errors on the backup set for this tape.
As soon as the restore started, it loaded the correct tape then informed me that the tape was blank, then no matter what I did it insisted the tape was blank.
Any clues as to why this happened would be greatly appreciated.

Was the tape still in DP format? Can't really think of a reason.
