Unable to load tape into Surestore DAT24
We are using a SureStore DAT24 internal drive. Somehow the two spindles are stuck in the "up" position without any tape in the machine, so we can't load any tape into the drive.
How do I get the spindles to return to the "down" and ready position? Both warm and cold boot didn't work.
Any help will be much appreciated!!

Re: Unable to load tape into Surestore DAT24
I am sorry your tape drive has a hardware error. You will either have to replace it or send in for a unit exchange. If it is out of warranty I would suggest you upgrade to a DAT40 or DAT72

Re: Unable to load tape into Surestore DAT24
this is not a common issue.
Try to shut down the server completely, wait for a few minuts,(just to be sure all power are down) and reboot it. this will allow the DAT to go in the initial selftest, and it may put the dat in working conditions.
If this do not solve, open a call in HP.
