driver configuration values

The Solaris scsi tape driver
uses a configuration file,
st.conf. It includes values
that I think are passed to the
tape drive for density/compression/???

An example for HPdds3 is:
.. 0x00, 0x13, 0x24, 0x03, ..
These correspond to the 4 device names Solaris assigns to the drive. The first seems to be no hw compression the second leave compression as it currently is, the 3rd forces hw compression, the last ???

I presume these values are
drive vendor specific. Any pointers to where documentation for the meaning of these values can be obtained?
