Error message HP Surestore DAT24
HI,
I've got this external scsi HP Surestore DAT24 DDS3 drive, and apparently using MS backup or Tapeware6.2 (on my windows98se with adaptec 3950u2 scsi adapter) I can backup and erase & format DDS1 tapes just fine. However, if I use DDS2 or DDS3 tapes, the erase & format function results in "media write protected", while it is definitely NOT. Using the HP library & tape tools, and running the test, I get test passed with warnings: "your drive may require re-calibration". Now I would not have a problem doing this re-calibration, if only I knew HOW - I can't find anywhere how to do this. (I've run this test with different brands of DDS1, DDS2 & DDS3 - all same error).
(and yes - the adaptec and tapedrive and software is all at latest firmware and version)
Can anyone help me with this.
Thanks a lot in advance.

If it is under warranty you'll get another one free.
