You likely need to add (or re-install) the IDE CD-ROM (ATAPI 1.2)/Dual-channel PCI IDE Controller:

Go into Control Panel.
Click SCSI Adapters.
Click the Drivers tab and select Add.
Under standard mass storage controllers select IDE CD-ROM (ATAPI 1.2)/Dual-channel PCI IDE Controller. The driver should be located on the hard drive or Windows CD.

Re-boot.

the colorado was working untill monday for more than 1 year. i chanched the tapes into new Travan Tapes. the colorado is inside the server for dayly backups. maybe the problem related with the new Travan mediums?

Possibly. Can you try reading one of your old tapes?

Alternatively, you can run a TR4 cleaning tape through the device and see if the errors go away.
