I tried Travan 20GB tape and 3.2GB and even 2120XL Jumbo type tapes

Re: HP 20GB Travan Tape Drive

Marc, I'll see what I can do. The Travan was discontinued before XP was introduced so the software was never updated for XP. What version do you have? Also the internal drive should work in the native backup however the external will have some issues. Which drive do you have? one more thing, you should jsut be using the 20GB tapes, the others will not work at all.

Re: HP 20GB Travan Tape Drive

I have Calorado BackUp II Software.
When I purchased it I was told It was backword compatible for older Tape Media.
Sorry for the delay in my reply. I would still like to get this working in XP.

Thanks,
Marc

Re: HP 20GB Travan Tape Drive

Marc, there are many versions of CBII. Only 9.1 was ever used with any degree of success in XP. Again, is your drive internal or external? One worked natively, the other did not. When you were told they could use older media, it really means they could backwards "READ" older media.

Re: HP 20GB Travan Tape Drive

Hi Marc, The version you have will definitely not work with XP. The internal drive should work in the native backup application with no problem. If you have installed your software, remove it and try the native backup.

Re: HP 20GB Travan Tape Drive

I tried the Native WinXP Backup Program but it says there is no media in the drive. I had a 20GB Travan Tape in there. So I went to the store and bought another 20GB Travan Tape (Chi-Ching Chi-Ching)and it also didn't work. It seems like I am wasting alot of money on tapes and the drive doesn't even work! Why is this so dificult to work on my new computer? I have had 5 different Colorado Tape drives over the years and never had a problem. now the large capacity drive doesn't even work for the first time......
