HP Colorado Backup II problems
I cannot get a consistent backup from my tape backup software (HP Colorado Backup II). I get different errors every week from "The backup device reported an unexpected error" (the most common) to "Error: An error occurred while writing the backup data". The errors are never consistent. Some weeks I will get four to five good backups; the next just one or two, sometime none. Very seldom does the same error come up on the same tape.

Re: HP Colorado Backup II problems
Hi Gerry
I think there are problem with the datatranfer between ide controller and drive. If there a other drive connected at the same cable ?? --> remove it for testing.
You should do following too:
- set in BIOS by the IDE port, where the drive are connected, the PIO mode to 0
and disable UDMA
- update the FW
!!! If you use WinNT, Win2000, WinME or Win XP, you should update the FW in real DOS (bootable floppydisk).
I hope this are helpfull for you
bye
Stephan

Re: HP Colorado Backup II problems
Might be media related ?
These tapes can get very sensitive when you don't retension them.
What sort of drive is it ?
cheers
John

Re: HP Colorado Backup II problems
John,
It is an internal HP Colorado 5GB tape drive.
Thanks,
Garry
