SolutionUnfortunately the T1000 is not supported in Windows XP. Your best chance of getting it to work would be to use an embedded driver in the OS if one is available. This drive is a bit older, so it is doubtful that any XP drivers will be made.

Re: HP Colorado T 1000 / Windows XP
By chance, my son-in-law "returned" a (120 MHz souped up to 650 Mhz) older Dell P1 this past weekend. Included was a fine HP "CD Writer Plus" he had asked me to install on it a year ago. So I stripped the CD out, and installed it in my P4. The Windows XP OS makes burning a CD a snap! Problem solved, though I do miss the catalogs HP's fine backup software provides.
On the old Dell, I upgraded to Windows ME, previously installed on the Pentium 4. I also added a $10 network card to the older Dell (remember when a nic cost $300?), installed HP's tape backup software (Win ME ver.), and the FC20 Controller card to one of those precious ISA slots on the Pentium I. So now I can backup to the T1000 drive via a network connection.

Re: HP Colorado T 1000 / Windows XP
I am trying to shape up a used PC for a friend. It has had the HD reformatted and W98SE loaded.
It has no application software.
I would like to use the backup tape drive so I have gone to HP's site and downloaded Tapecat (196KB).
When I tried to load it I got this error message: "A required Dll file DBDA03.DLL was not found"
How do I go about getting this file as well as any others I may need?
Thanks for your help.

Re: HP Colorado T 1000 / Windows XP
The file DBDAO3.DLL appears to be database related although I do not recognize that file per se. My Win2K system does not show this file and the DAO probably stands for "Data Access Onjects", a database technology of several years ago.
Suggestion would be to go to the Microsot site and download their latest MDACxxx.EXE which will install the latest data components.
Good luck,
Charly
