HP DAT 72 shows low SCSI Speed (20Mbps)
I have 2 HP DAT72 SCSI Tapes,
one connected to a 'HP 64-Bit/133MHz PCI-X 2Ch Ultra320 HBA' in a Proliant ML370G3 Server and the other connected to the onboard Ultra-2 LSI Logic Controller in a Netserver E-800.
The Tape Drive is the only device connected to the HBA`s.
Both controller show a connection speed of only 20 Mbps (16-bit width) ???
Shouldn┬┤t it be 160 Mbps in the Proliant server and 80 Mbps in the Netserver ?
Why ONLY 20 Mbps ?
Both controller are terminated well.
Any ideas what┬┤s going wrong ?
Many thanks and kind regards,
Martin

Re: HP DAT 72 shows low SCSI Speed (20Mbps)
I`m looking at the connection speed at controllers boot time and second on the proliant server in HPSIM under 'SCSI Bus Information' of the controller, showing me:
Phys. Width: 16, Curr. Width: 16, Curr. Speed: 20 Mbps. Both DAT72 seem to be connected with the same speed on totally different servers with diff. HBA├В┬┤s ...
I├В┬┤ve connected one of the tapes to an Netraid-2M (Ultra 3 HBA) in a normal PC for testing purpose and what a surprise, the connection speed is shown as Ultra3 (U160).
I am really helpless.
Kind regards,
Martin

Re: HP DAT 72 shows low SCSI Speed (20Mbps)
Testing the tapes does not show any errors, at the most some warnings.
Thanks, Martin

'Test execution completed successfully'.
I think the drive assessment test does not check connection speed.
Still helpless, any other ideas ?

Re: HP DAT 72 shows low SCSI Speed (20Mbps)
Yes, at least the HP controller is listed as supported controller in ML370 as controller for connecting tapes.

Re: HP DAT 72 shows low SCSI Speed (20Mbps)
PCI-slot 5 (Bus 6). The other devices are:
SmartArray 6400 in slot 1 (Bus 2) and SmartArray 642 in slot 3 (Bus 10).
