HP tapes and IBM drives
We have an IBM Ultrium tape library (a 3584) and are having constant problems with tapes getting stuck in the drives.
The machine has a mixture of IBM and HP tapes, but only the HP tapes seem to get stuck.
Are there any known compatibility issues ?

Re: HP tapes and IBM drives
Hello,
Shouldn't be. Ultrium drives are LTO (Linear Tape Open), so all tapes should be compatible with all the drives (HP, Seagate, IBM).
I don't know much about IBM Ultrium drives. I suggest you contact the company you purchased the drive from for more information.
HTH,
Vince

Re: HP tapes and IBM drives
Hi there.
check the tapes. On the lower side you can see a number. If there is an M in it, this tape is manufactured by Maxell, F means Fuji.
Ask HP whether there is a pack of tapes fro Maxell, that is not ok. We had some problems with DLT tapes based on this info. May be you ran into the same.

Re: HP tapes and IBM drives
Check your drive firmware, I had good results when I updated to 18N2 in a 3600 tape library.
