Internal 8gb errors

Have been using cbII 8gb for several years on win 98 and all of a sudden I get the following error message anytime I try to backup or initialize using used tapes or a new tape.
Error: Unexpected media removal detected. (10-14-23-00-3A00)
Can you please tell me what I need to do?
Thanks,
Hal

Re: Internal 8gb errors

Try a drive cleaning cartridge. But it might be an actual drive problem. If you say you have used it several years, it may have already passed it's useful life.

Hal, the proper procedure for cleaning this tape drive is to use the retension command in the software. run it a couple of times and then try the initialize command. Make sure your firmware version 2.08 If it still doesn't work, it has probably failed.
