Re: MSL 2024 not appearing in Windows server 2016 device manager

What is the setting of the library mode (random/sequential/...)?

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

@david_pol, Have you had more luck with this? If the devices are showing up in the Qlogic GUI, I would say the FC interface is working. Does Windows show the Qlogic driver installed?

Set the FC port type to "loop" in the library configuration.

Hope this helps!

Re: MSL 2024 not appearing in Windows server 2016 device manager

@david_pol, Sorry to hear it's not working still. Some older HBA's require the device to be set to loop as @Torsten. mentioned. I didn't suspect this was an issue as you said the Qlogic GUI saw the devices, which would indicate the connectivity between the HBA and tape/library appears to be working ok. When you say Qlogic GUI, are you talking about the Qlogic BIOS, or a windows based utility? Does the Windows Device Manager show the Qlogic HBA? If no driver is loaded for the HBA, the OS will not see any devices connected to it. If device manager does see the Qlogic HBA, what driver version is being reported?

Re: MSL 2024 not appearing in Windows server 2016 device manager

@david_pol, Take a look at this similar thread about an MSL 4048 directly attached to a Qlogic HBA:

https://community.hpe.com/t5/StoreEver-Tape-Storage/MSL4048-Negotiating-Link/td-p/7075328#.Xh4UYshKhaQ

Curtis's comment is correct, the user guides have been updated (on the newer libraries) to reflect these changes when directly connecting the library/drive to an FC HBA - try setting the ports on the drives to Fabric mode instead of loop mode.
