MSL 5000 with e1200-320 data encoding question

We have this library with two LTO-4 Ultrium 1840 drives connected to SAN via e1200-320 and configured with HP Dataprotector 5.5.

I want that my backed up data to be encoded when transferred to/from library.
As per e1200-320 specs, it supports encoding:

How could I verify / configure the encoding on this controller? within Dataprotector?

Are you talking about encryption? If so, the E1200-320 is not responsible for that. The backup software will be the one generating the keys for encryption. Of course, the backup software must support encryption.

you are right... as per the LTO-4 1840 drive it supports AES Encryption: I know that you should configure that from within the backup software; is there any action to do from the drive side to allow this feature or it is built-in the drive and is not configurable?

You can't do any configuration from the drive itself. Encryption is enabled by default on the drive.
