MSL3040 Tape drive

Hello friends,

I have question regarding tape drive connection. So I have for example LTO9 tape drive, with 2 miniSAS ports.  Have external HBA that will be hooked up with tape drive.

If i only use 1 SAS port for connection to HBA, what is second port for on tapedrive?

Also related question, HPE External 12Gb Mini SAS High Density to Mini SAS HD 4-lane 2m Fanout Cable. Does this cable have bandwith of 12Gb on each SAS lane? or subtotal of 12Gb?

Thank you!

Re: MSL3040 Tape drive

Only one SAS port on the MSL 3040 tape drives is used for most configurations.  There are some applications and complex configurations where it is possible to use the second SAS port for a redudant path to the drive but, unless your application has explicit support for two paths to SAS tape drives, only one port should be connected.

I work for HPE.
