need to upgrade firmware or something else?
I have a DAT24i and the installed firmware is L005. L111 is available; however I do not want to get into a conflict by upgrading. On the other hand the drive has been sporadic in its successful backup completion.
It alternately give 1302 (Warning – Hard Error) and 1303 (Critical – Media) errors and on other days it completes the backup no problem.
We have obtained new HP tapes, cleaned the drive, etc. Nothing seems to provide consistent backups. I also updated the Tapeware software to the latest service pack (ver7D).
Any suggestion

Re: need to upgrade firmware or something else?
Download Library and TApe Tools from here. Do upgrade your firmware but also select scripts and runa script called DDSwriterecal. This may help.

Re: need to upgrade firmware or something else?
I should also mention that if we start the backup manually during the day (after noticing that it did not complete the evening before) it usually runs to completion.
