Quantum DLT 8000 reading HP DLTvs80 created tapes

Can the Quantum DLT8000 or 4000 read tapes created by HP DLTvs80?

No I had the same problem my self, DLTVS80 and DLT1 drives write a different compression type which is not readable by DLT4000 ro 8000 drives.
If you need me to help you copy it over let me know.

Thank you for your FAST reply,

I read in one of the forums here that it is possible to change the "density" for an "older" tape drive to read from a newer one. do you think this is do-able?

what do you mean by "copy it over"?

Thanks again.

page 20 of the user manual.

The question with regard to density was whether DLT4000/8000 were compatible.
