SSL1016 160/320 and Windows 2K Backup

I have upgraded the backup on a Windows 2000 Advanced Server. I have removed a DDS4 drive, and installed the SSL1016. I have been able to update firmware etc. The SSL1016 has been insalled on the same SCSI ID as te old drive.

The drive and changer are recognised in Device Manager.

The old drive is no longer listed in Device Manager.

If I try to make a backup with Windows Backup, I cannot see the SDLT drive, only DDS4. In Removeable Storage MMC I cannot see thedrive listed under 'Physical Locations' - the old drive was still listed which I have deleted.

How can I make Removeable Storage 'see' the drive and autoloader ?

Any help appreciated !

Hi,

Just asking, why don't you try to use 3rd party software? (i.e tapeware, netvault, backupexec, arcserve)
I think that will help you more in maximizing the performance of your loader box in terms of automated backup and retrieval.

-From computer management under services, haven't you try to restart "removable storage" service?

-Are you utilizing latest windows service pack?
