Support for VXA-320 tape?

We've just purchased a new IBM x-Series server and a VXA-320 tape drive to go with it.

Since we've been using Omniback II (V4.1) for some years, I downloaded the eval of Data Protector Ver 6 and installed it on the server, which is running Windows Server 2003R2 x32.

It comes up with a warning when I try to do any tape operation... unrecognised device type, but otherwise it still seems to be working fine. I successfully did a backup with it.

Is this tape deck officially supported? If not, will it be?

Is there any reason why I shouldn't trust using the software even though it doessn't seem to recognise the device type?

Thanks...

Re: Support for VXA-320 tape?

A bit disappointed no-one has responded to this.

HP: How do you add devices to the list of what's officially supported?

How critical is it that Data Protector actually has to recognise the device type for it to work OK?

Thanks in anticipation...

The VXA tape is currently not supported. You might try your request in the OmniBack/Data Protector Support forum. People from the DP development team monitor that forum real time.
