Surestore 5000 on Windows 2000 Server

Windows 2000 will not recognize the drive even though it shows up in the SCSI BIOS. Two other devices show up no problem (scanner and CD ROM)both in the BIOS and W2K. I have tried all the drivers, tape tools, etc. Tried to install CBII v90 thinking it might kick it up but it won't install ""HP CB II will not install on NT Server". Any help would be appreciated

You should try to isolate the tape drive by it self first with out the scanner and CD ROM.
Then see if win 2000 would detect it.

Make sure the its connected to terminated cable.

Munir!
Thanks - I disconnected the scanner(external connection) and left the tape drive and the CD ROM (the CD ROM can be terminated and I had no other terminator) and now W2K see's the drive! Of course no ihave to figure out why the scanner was screwing it up- thanks again

Re: Surestore 5000 on Windows 2000 Server

HP always recommends connecting the tape drive on its own controller, and not to share it with any other devices.

Also make sure the termination is the last thing on the chain.

Hi JP,

You can also check the SCSI target ID settings of tape drive and scanner. If they are the same, then you can just change one of them to another number (make sure not the same as your CD-ROM as well). So it can help to save a couple of bucks.

To detect the SCSI target ID of your internal SCSI device, you can use Library and Tape Tools. Download site: http://www.hp.com/support/tapetools.

Good luck.
