Surestore 6000 Compression
Others have asked this but no one seems to have an answer.
I am running 2000 server. Irun the tape tools and it says compression is enabled. I run a backup using the native windows backup program with the allow compression box selected. after the backup job is completed I run the tape tools and find compression disabled. Does anyone have a real answer for this references to past compression posts are nice but they do not address this

Re: Surestore 6000 Compression
Hi Joe,
The Surestore 6000 uses hardware compression by default. Since it is usually better than software compression you do not want to enable that option in the software.

Re: Surestore 6000 Compression
Dear Joe,
I can concur with Lewis. You do not want to use software compression as well as the built-in hardware compression. This will actually expand the data. Just use hardware data compression with your SureStore 6000. It is enabled by default unless the DIP switches on the base of the drive have been changed. They should all be in the ON position except switch 3 which should be OFF.
