Tape device not detected with SANCONF on AIX 6.1 client
Hello Gurus,
We are owning an ESL 322e with DP 6.0 installed on HPUX 11iv2 cluster. This library is connected to some SAN Switch etc ...
We recently installed some IBM hardware with AIX 6.1 . I had to patch DP so I can installed the needed agents to the AIX clients
I'm trying now to configured the tape device on this AIX client via the SAN.
The SAN zoning and all those stuff have been configured ( properly ... I guess ). The server is properly recognized from the Secure Manager on CV TL, the server has been allowed to see three drives and the robotics ( is the robotic needed ? ).
When executing the command "sanconf -list -host aixclient" none of the devices are detected.
Checking on the client side, here is the output of lsdev -Cctape command :
rmt0 Available 00-00-01 Other FC SCSI Tape Drive
rmt1 Available 00-00-01 Other FC SCSI Tape Drive
rmt2 Available 00-00-01 Other FC SCSI Tape Drive
Installing the Atape driver did not changed anything :
Fileset Level State Description
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Path: /usr/lib/objrepos
Atape.driver 11.3.4.0 COMMITTED IBM AIX Enhanced Tape and
Medium Changer Device Driver
We are anyway getting an error when executing the cfgmgr command :
cfgmgr: 0514-621 WARNING: The following device packages are required for
device support but are not currently installed.
devices.fcp.changer
Is the changer driver needed ? How the devices should be recognized ? Is there any special operation to perform ? What would be the guideline with AIX as I'm not really familliar with it ?
Unfortunately I didn't find anything really relevant on the WEB. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
David
