The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Scsi\symmpi1 - backups failing
Server 2003 HP DL360 G5
our backups have started failing - some times they work some times they dont. but mostly backups are not working we get the following error. after reading lots of information. I have the following drivers installed
Tape drive - symantec driver 5.1 SDLT 600
Scsi - Microsoft LSI logic ultra320 5.2.379
it is an additional HP scsi card connected to an external tape drive
I have tried the following - with no success
updated the LSI driver - still errord
changed the driver to a quantum one - still errors
checked all the cables and its all connected ok
the terminator is attached.

If you still have the erro then the LSI card might be broken

Re: The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Scsi\symmpi1 - backups failing
I have tried with that version. I read that the best driver combo is the sysmapi microsoft drivers for backup exec.
I am retrying with these drivers again to see if it helps.
I guess the next step is to replace the scsi card - although I have never had a scsi card that was working - fail on me. I think its something windows related being rubbish.

Next step - new card

Re: The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Scsi\symmpi1 - backups failing
Whether it was a SCSI card issue. After replacing the card, now is it working fine ?
I am also facing a same issue.
