Ultrium 920 and 960 Compatibility
We are using both drives in internal and autoloader configurations. Backup software is Symantec Backup Exec 10d and 11d.
My question is whether or not the 920 tapes can be read in the 960 drive and the 960 tapes can be read in the 920 drive? This is for disaster recovery purposes. I know they both use LTO3 tapes...but can they read each other's format once written?

What ever it takes!

Re: Ultrium 920 and 960 Compatibility
Both drives can use the same LT02 media.
You may refer to http://www.hptapecompat.com/
Both are able to read each other's format :

Re: Ultrium 920 and 960 Compatibility
Those drives are completely compatible with the only significant difference being the speed.
Products with the LTO logo are all required to be able to read/write the tape from the drive generation and one generation back as well as read two generations back regardless of the drive used to write the tape.
