Re: Unable to backup exchange server 2000
Hello,
please try attached informations. Which patch-level have you installed?
Best Regards
Stephan
RESOLUTION
The following steps have been verified to resolve this problem.
1. Verify that the correct path is set on the Exchange 2000 client.
There should be a path set to C:\Program Files\Exchsrvr\BIN. You can check
this by typing path at the command prompt. If this statement is not available
you will need to add it manually by selecting properties on My Computer, Select
the environment tab, click environment variables, under system variables
seletct path, click modify add statement at the end for C:\Program
Files\Exchsrvr\BIN, click OK 3 times to close. Typing path at the command
prompt will reveal that the system variable has now been set.
2. Verify on the Exchange 2000 client the following registry value has
been set.
WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious, system wide
problems that may require you to reinstall Windows NT. Hewlett-Packard cannot
guarantee that any problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor
can be resolved. Use at your own risk.
'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Hewlett Packard\OpenView\OmniBackII\Agents\MS-
ESE with value name "version" and value data "A.03.50" is present. If this key
is not present you must add it manually.
3. From the cell server update the Exchange 2000 server from the client
context. To do this right click the target Exchange 2000 server name from the
Clients scope and select update.
4. Verify that the file ese_bar.exe exists on the Exchange 2000 clients only.
This file is located in the <omniback_home>\BIN folder. An 8017 error message
will occur if this is the case. To correct this problem edit the Cell Info
file located in <omniback_home>\Config\Cell. You will find an entry for each
Exchange 2000 server of "-msese A.03.50". This entry should not exist on any
server listed that does not have Exchange 2000 installed. Remove the -msese
A.03.50 entry where this is the case.
You should now be able to perform Backup and Restore operations of Exchange
2000 from OmniBackII.

Re: Unable to backup exchange server 2000
Its not so easy to qualify this issue. I think this is no OmniBack-Problem.
Check Microsoft document Q151789 http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q151/7/89.ASP Error -1018 JET_errReadVerifyFailure) describing your problem and eventual resolution steps.
