Unable to delete Backup Tape - LTO3 - Media is Write Protected - 0x13

Hello

Im having problem with erasing few LTO3 HP Tapes (HP C7973A).

Im using Symantec Backup Exec 2010 R3 and only for few tapes Im getting error 0x13 when I try to format them.

The "RED Protection Tab" which is located on the tape is in "OFF" possition, and the Media Settings (on Backup Exec) are set to "Overwritable" which mean that this tapes are not hardware or software (from Backup Exec application) locked. But Im still unable to format them.

Do you know is there some Tool from "HP" (our tape vendor) which can format them so I can re-use them?

Hi Dexter

You can try using HP Library and Tape tools
Go to Utility option > Select drop menu > Erase
Run the Utility and check if the tape formats successfully
