hi all,
i'm having an issues with Optional hardware licensing and LTU. My storage previously was under another HPE tenant management and that is why my tenant is totally emply related to the very storage. And the problem is after StoreOnce full wipe and software reinstallation I have a yellow alert Optional NIC is not licensed. This NIC has been installed from the factory and that is why I have no paper license. How can I recover license to remove warning?
Does anybody know is this warning having some funtionality limitation or may i sleep carefully while backups are uploading to the storage as is?

Re: LTU recovery for StoreOnce
Hi KEA.
What is the device model and system software version?
Have you used QR to reinitialize the device?
Have you changed the installation slot of this network card?
YA.

Re: LTU recovery for StoreOnce
Hi, I have StoreOnce 3640 with the latest available software. And yes, I've used QR to bring system back to normal operations after full wipe. No, the device still uses the slot assigned at HPE factory - nobody moved it.

Re: LTU recovery for StoreOnce
KEA, you need to install license.
Despite the fact that the licenses were activated at the factory when setting up the device, you, as a customer, have access to re-downloading licenses on the HPE portal - https://myenterpriselicense.hpe.com/cwp-ui/contact-us.
Choose a convenient way of communication for you and describe your problem. By the serial number of the device, they will probably be able to find the required licenses for your device.
YA.

Re: LTU recovery for StoreOnce
It's totally clear but it's not described to any documenation how to do it.

Re: LTU recovery for StoreOnce
Hi KEA,
Thank you for contacting HPE .
As per my understanding after QR NIC is showing as unlicensed.
You have to add the license.
I am enclosing the details:
License SKUs
SKU |
Long Description |
Notes |
BB983A |
HPE StoreOnce Gen4 10/25Gb SFP Network Card LTU |
LTU used for both Gen4 and Gen4 Plus 10/25Gb SFP Network Cards |
BB985A |
HPE StoreOnce Gen4 10GbE Base-T Network Card LTU |
LTU used for both Gen4 and Gen4 Plus 10GbE Base-T Network Cards |
BB987A |
HPE StoreOnce Gen4 16Gb Fibre Channel Network Card LTU |
LTU used for both Gen4 and Gen4 Plus |
BB991A |
HPE StoreOnce Gen4 32Gb Fibre Channel Network Card LTU |
LTU used for both Gen4 and Gen4 Plus |
- Any installed optional hardware will not be active or available to use until the correct licenses have been installed. The required licenses are shown in the above table.
- All installed optional hardware and their license status can be viewed in the StoreOnce web interface under 'Settings' > 'License management' > 'Optional Hardware'.
- If there are any issues, such as the license is not installed or the cards are installed in the wrong order, the license state and hardware state will be updated accordingly.
Prerequisites: Prior to using the Remove Cards action, ensure that the StoreOnce System can be powered off without disrupting operations. Have licenses for new optional hardware cards available to install after the system is restarted. New optional hardware cards (if any) cannot be used until you add their licenses to the StoreOnce System.
Procedure
- On the main menu, select Settings.
- In the System section, click the License Management panel.
- On the License Management screen, expand the Actions menu and select Remove Cards.
- Power off the StoreOnce System. Then remove or move the desired optional hardware cards. Then restart the system.
Thank you .

Re: LTU recovery for StoreOnce
hello Mohammed_I, what is what we bought 2 years ago:
HPE StoreOnce 3640 48TB System (BB955A)
HPE StoreOnce Gen4 10/25 Gb SFP Card (BB982A)
HPE StoreOnce Gen4 10/25 Gb SFP Card Factory Integrated (BB982AA#0D1)
HPE StoreOnce Gen4 10/25 Gb SFP Card LTU (BB983A)
HPE StoreOnce Gen4 10/25 Gb SFP Card LTU FACTORY INTEGRATED (BB983A#0D1)
HPE HU4A6A5#ZGZ Support HP StoreOnce single node Catalyst SVC
HPE HA124A1#5VF HPE StoreOnce 36xx Stup SVC
HP StoreOnce singe node Catalyst SVC (HA124A1#5T7)
As I got from documentation once NIC is factory installed then no paper license is distributed with hardware and no action is required. But after QR I can't install license because I can't get it, but I bought it
