too many files/directories in nas share error

Hi! I have a strange errors in logs on d2d: "too many files/directories on nas share ". I was searching in guides but all i have found was "Maximum concurrently open files" parameter, but i'm not sure that it's the parameter from error. There's only one concurrent backup session on this d2d, that's why i'm unsure. Any comments?

A maximum of 25000 is the allowable limit

Yep, actually, the customer wanted to have the possibility to restore individual exchange mailbox, and that's why backup exec generated so much files. We haven't find any solution for this situation except using the vtl instead of nas share.

Re: too many files/directories in nas share error

Depending on your model of system 2504/4106 or others there is a limit to the number of open files per share and appliance wide.

This is not meant to be a general purpose NAS

Depending on your model the number of open files per share could be 32 to 128 and the number of open files per appliance could be 96 to 640.

So bottom line only let your backup program put large files in a storeone NAS Share.

Re: too many files/directories in nas share error

Hi, HP support,

do you have a patch to increase the NAS file number limit. Is it still 25K? It is kind of small for a NAS share. Thanks.
