VLS 6600 'lost' all cartridges after reboot
We had an issue with our VLS (HP StorageWorks 6600-series Virtual Library System) and were forced to do a hard shutdown and start up. Everything is back up and green but ALL of our virtual tapes/storage/etc is gone. This is NOT a good thing.
Any suggestions how to get the VLS to find them short of recreating the entire library and losing almost 2 weeks of backups?

if you had a failure you might loose the library configuration but you should see your cartridges.

Re: VLS 6600 'lost' all cartridges after reboot
The cartidges are stored on the MSA20 enclosures, even if you re-image the VLS node, they should be there.
Check the hardware, smart array, MSA20 and LUNs. There should be 2 or 3 LUNs on each MSA20. If the node sees the LUNs, it should see the storage pool and the cartridges there.

Re: VLS 6600 'lost' all cartridges after reboot
It was a bad drive that took down one of the controllers. Even though we had rebooted (cold) the VLS the drive never recovered and kept the controller down too.
