Hello
We have a failed storage system on our P4300G2 cluster. I have removed it from the cluster. it still shos up on the CMC but if i cannot see any way to completely remove it to be re-imaged and re-added. There is no repair system option, if i re-add it to the cluster it remains in a broken state. Can someone please point me to relevant documentation for the process of completely removing it, rebuilding and re-adding to the cluster.
many thanks

Re: eject a failed storage system from a cluster, re-image and re-add on P4300G2 cluster
@FergTF Hi,
could you please post some screenshots from the CMC with the status of the system/s, cluster, the managment group, the volumes and provide some more info and context to the failure and error messages you saw or see? Maybe this will help to point you in the right direction.
This is the right way you repair a brocken storevirtual system: https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docLocale=en_US&docId=emr_na-kc0112618en_us
The repair storage system, gives you the opportunity to bring back the system where it was, after successfull repair and you have only one restripe, as far as I remember.

Re: eject a failed storage system from a cluster, re-image and re-add on P4300G2 cluster
thanks for getthing back to me so swiftly.
We lost the unit after a power outage. the console messages says "cannot log in to the console because the storage system has not yet fully initialized. Wait a minute and try again."
My attempts to remove it and re-add via the CMC have come to nothing, i cannot see a way to make any difference. I keep removing it and re-adding but it remainsd in the same state.
the menus available for both storgae system tasks and right click on the storage system are: add to new cluster, add to existing cluster, edit hostname, power off or reboot, help.

Re: eject a failed storage system from a cluster, re-image and re-add on P4300G2 cluster
I suspect the clientmqueue is full and that's the reason why the system can not initialize, but for this there is no easy fix for doing it yourself. You will need to get to the backend of the lefthand and this would need a support case, or you could reinstall the storage from scratch and add it again to the cluster.
Hope this helps at least a bit.
Cheers

Is this not a support case? If not how do i raise one?
Also please can you direct me to documentation for reinstalling the storage from scratch and adding it again to the cluster.
Many thanks

Solution@FergTF Can you please retry with this 12.5 media, I found an old post from 2017 where the newer version was an issue.

Re: eject a failed storage system from a cluster, re-image and re-add on P4300G2 cluster
@Assen Hello
i used the 12.5 media and succefully re-installed the OS.
It still did not respond well to trying to re-add it to the cluster, i went through various iterations but it never appeared as a cluster member. In the end i tried removing it from the management group using the config menu on the device. This appears to have been an error and the CMC now lists it's MAC with an RIP at the beginning, pic attached.
As ever I'd be grateful for assistance.
