'Excessive' packet loss. Packet Loss is ' 0.51'%
Hello All,
we are expieriencing Packet Loss on one of our SAN while running Veeam Full Backup on Saturdays. Sometimes in the week, if the incremental Backups get large.
So i checked Veeam configuration but couldn't find any big issues. The job is to Backup 32 VMs to Disk (later to tape, but there is no error).
It looks like the bandwidth barely reach 1GB/s. And i checked correlation between Packet Loss Warning timespamp and bandwith - no relation.
On our physical Backup-Server we have 1x 10Gb iSCSI and NIC Teaming with 4x LAN 1Gb connected to our Core-Switch HP Aruba 5406zl2.
Our SAN is connected with 2x 10Gb to the Core-Switch.
I must say, i'm new to this topic and don't know exactly which connections where used, when Backup is running.
I checked in HPE StoreVirtual CMC the Local Bandwidth: 16 MB/sec
I checked MTU size: 1500
We replaced our Backup Server in 09/2021 so we try to fix this problem since two month.
Need some help in this topic. Thank You!

Re: 'Excessive' packet loss. Packet Loss is ' 0.51'%
This issue can be related to any of the following causes leading to packet loss:
Congestion due to oversubscribed network link.
Congestion due to individual host or storage system oversubscribed.
Marginal hardware including NIC or switch port, cable, SFP.
NIC firmware or driver issue.
You can follow the recommendations as per the below Article:
