HP P4000 VSA and NetApp FAS2040
Hi folks. I'm trialling the HP P4000 VSA software using two Dell R510 servers (36 TB raw on each box) and would like to connect a NetApp FAS2040. The NetApp is part of our current solution, and we would like to leverage P4000 for keeping our VMs on the server-side storage as it is currently unused.
Would appreciate any feedback if this is possible or not, since I haven't found any posts mentioning this. I don't see any mention in the HP literature of the possibility of connecting an external SAN to the P4000 VSA.

Any storage product that is supported on the VMware Hardware Compatability List (HCL) is supported as storage capacity behind the P4000 VSA.

Re: HP P4000 VSA and NetApp FAS2040
The current version of VSA 9.5 has a hard cap of disk at 5 disks at 2TB = 10TB max. You might need to have multiple VSAs to fill that 35tb.

Re: HP P4000 VSA and NetApp FAS2040
We are restricting the external storage to any block based storage that is on the hardware compatibility list of VMware (for the ESX variant of the VSA) or Microsoft (for the Hyper-V variant of the VSA).
The details on setting up the VSA are described in the VSA user manual, which can be retrieved at: www.hp.com/go/p4000downloads

Re: HP P4000 VSA and NetApp FAS2040
Our test VSA setup uses our old NetApp FAS 270c for the storage via iSCSI, works fine.
