HP StoreVirtual SRA 12.0.0.218 failing to sync the data on replica device

Hi all,

I'm running a test of the latest HP VSA SRA with VMware SRM 5.5.1 in my lab and having issues with initial "Synchronize Storage" step. The message from the SRM - " No remote snapshots were created. None". No attempts to create snapshots are visible in the CMC.

If I run an SRM test without the initial sync, the remote volume snapshot is correctly created on the remote system and mounted on the DR side. It's only when I try to do the test with initial sync it's failing.

The SRA log directory C:\ProgramData\VMware\VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager\Logs\SRAs\HP StoreVirtual SRA is empty... How do I go about troubleshooting this issue?

Any pointers to finding relevant log files will be appreciated.

I also have this same issue on my lab environment. I've searched and it looks like this error goes back as far as version 9. A lot of users are getting this same error. Did you ever find a solution?

Looking at the SRM logs the only thing I'm seeing is that for some reason SRM is failing to connect to the managment group at the recovery site. This is strange since if I don't check the box to replicate then everything works without issue. I have all VSAs and SRMs on the same subnet so I know they can see each other...

Yes, this was a while back, and I did fix it... My issue was with VSA having two network adapters on different subnets. SRA was trying to contact the VSA interface that was unreachable. If yours are all on the same subnet, it could be a different issue...

 If I remember correctly, I had to go to the CMC -> Storage System -> Network -> Communication and switch the LeftHand OS interface to another adapter that was reachable from the SRA.

I do have two interfaces on the VSAs. One is on the Managment subnet and the other is on the Storage subnet. I have the LeftHand OS interface set to the storage subnet. When I have it set this way I'm able to run tests and failovers so long as "replicate recent changes" is not checked.

If I change the LeftHand OS interface to the managment subnet then I'm able to keep "replicate recent changes" checked and it succeeds in this initial step, but then fails trying to "create writeable storage snapshot" causing the recovery plan to fail.

Both lab ESXi hosts (Prod and DR) are on the same managment and storage subnets so that they can see each other and the VSAs. I'm not sure what I'm missing here.

Joel,

I've tried to troubleshoot it for a while and finally gave up and simply made the windows server where I had SRA installed dual-homed on both management and storage networks. It was the easiest workaround.

Ok, at least I know now that it's not just me. I was thinking that something was misconfigured somewhere. Thanks for the tip Andrei, I will give that a try on both servers hosting the SRA.
