firmware upgrade on HP2626 (J4900B)

I've just tried to upgrade the firmware in an HP2626 switch.

The error I now get is "Flash memory needs reprogramming or chassis could be faulty.
Use a PC as the console and perform the update procedure
from the backup floppy diskette.
If unsuccessful w/ downloading, then try replacing chassis."

How do I recover from this?

I suggest you contact HP regarding this and open a case.
